Iran film festival to be held in India

An Iranian film festival has been scheduled to take place in the eastern India city of Chennai this week.

A three-day Iranian film festival organized by the Culture House of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mumbai, in collaboration with the Indo-Cine Appreciation Foundation will begin in Chennai on Monday.

Iranian films to be shown at the event include ‘Bodyguard’ by Ebrahim Hatamikia, ‘The Corridor’ by Behrouz Shoeibi and ‘A Time to Love’ by Ebrahim Farouzesh.

Prominent Iranian filmmaker Hatamikia’s ‘The Bodyguard’ depicts idealism in the new era. It narrates the story of a middle-aged man protecting high-profile political figures.

Shoeibi directed his first movie, ‘The Corridor’, which won a Fajr International Film Festival Crystal Simorgh for Best Film. The film details the life of Shiva, who is a family head looking after her little son, Amir Ali.

‘A Time to Love’ tells the story of a disabled child living with his parents, who tries to relate emotionally to other members of his family.

Other Iranian films will also be screened during the event in India’s city of Chennai.

The festival will be held at the Russian Centre of Science & Culture from February 12 to 14.
